Pyaar ka official Day.......

@ School Days : I Never knew that there is something called Valentine's Day, until one fine day one hippie friend from Bombay gave some gyaan about this hallowed day and its relevance in the lives of blessed souls. While I was in school, the only fitting definition of happier souls was 'the one who has a girl friend' either in actual or virtual. And we were damn unhappy and unsatisfied creatures of this world, more because we were in a ONLY Boys boarding school and even the sight of a female object used to be a high-point of the day. Ladki wadki to milne ka koi chance hin nahin tha........Valentine's Day ke baare mein hin pata chal gaya wohi kaafi tha!

@ Higher School Days : (Thank God! I was at least studying in a Co-Ed School). Lots of Girls, Lots of Noises, and Lots of Hopes. Everything was there, just the needs of the catalyzing factor was always missing. Girls as usual could be spotted talking to each other, and Guys displaying the whole quota of their 'Patna waala Pyaar'. But unfortunately, nothing ever happened ever in the whole two years, and even after those two glorious two years when I myself would have liked each girl of my class for at least one week per girl.

(By the way Patna waala Pyaar needs some clarification - One guy who likes a girl whole heartedly, and is not even bothered about the fact that the Girl is not even aware of his love and affection. The guy gets so involved with his self-acclaimed affair with the girl that he starts swearing by the name of the girl, fights with people on even single instance of the slip of the tongue. And this happens for months and years, without the knowledge of the girl. And This is know as Patna waala pyaar because this is a very common with all the Patna guys. I personally know so many Patna guys having fallen in 'one-sided' love with some girl or the other during their school/college/professional life).

@College Days : Gautam made me realize the importance of this day in words which would put all other government holidays search for a better reason to be holidays. Her words made me think strongly about the possibility of Valentine's Day surpassing the Independence Day and Republic Day in the times to come. Gandhi would be sure forgotten person, and Saint Valentine would be the Father of India. Indian Currency would no longer have the photo of Gandhi, it would be replaced by the photo of a cupid with that arrow and the Sparkling heart shape. And all this imagination was rightly fueled by the cards and other love mascots she had gifted me on the auspicious occasion of Valentine's Day. I had to believe that this is really some great day, and if I don't believe in this day then probably I too deserve to get a Pink Chaddi!

@ After College Days : Achchaa! Kal Valentine's Day hai! Ok Good! News mein dekh lengey ki kisne kisko kitna dhoya! Kis model mein ne kya khareeda aur kis celebrity ne kya kya bakwaas kiya! apna to kal bhi office hai.....aur apna valentine to wo kameena computer hai jo code ko theek se compile bhi nahin kar raha hai!

Having talked about the different phases of the Valentine's Day in my passing years........I feel it would be the right moment to speak for those who still believe in this auspicious day, and those who do not. There is no harm in being on the either side of the divide. But is it not unfair to the people on the other side when one starts to impose his philosophy or thinking to the others? Who are we to decide that what should a person be doing to his/her life....especially the ones who are grown up. I mean, I have the judicious right to choose the government for this nation, but I do not even have the basic right to choose the person with whom I want to spend my life (or at least a few years of my life). And whenever I hear the logic of 'culture' and 'western influence' then I just wonder that why don't they ban the rest of things which have come from the western society, and categorize all such acts into the criminal acts? This hypocracy is nothing but showing our true colours!

One final advice - If you like someone and the society has been playing the spoil sport, then I strongly suggest that tomorrow you come out and become the center of attraction and get caught by the Ram Sene, they will make all possible efforts to get both you married. Sara problems khatam! Papa papa...dekho aapki Bahu......!

Long Live Ram Sene.....you are doing the right thing! History will remember you!
